Downtown Dallas: This is John James. He approached me about taking his photo in exchange for a coffee. (I sweetened the deal with an egg salad sandwich as well.)

Deep Ellum: This was the only public art I saw that had been marked.

After taking this photo, a black man who worked in the area approached me to make sure I wasn’t taking it for derogatory reasons. “We don’t need any more negativity out here.”
